28 February 2014

Tony was holding Alyson and filling his cheeks with air expecting her to push his cheeks so that he would blow the air out at her. Instead of pushing his cheeks, first, she blew a raspberry at him, and then she leaned in to give him a kiss. We started laughing, and she just looked at us like "What did I do?" and then laughed back.

27 February 2014

Alyson was in the bath. Madelyn got into the bath with her. Madelyn had a Bandaid on her elbow that was closest to Alyson. The second Madelyn sat down in the tub, Alyson scooted right over and tried to get the Bandaid off of her sister.

26 February 2014

Baby girl was tired and cranky this evening. As I was holding her:

Me: Alyson. Kisses?
She leans down to give me a kiss.
Me: Alyson. Cuddles?
She puts her head on my shoulder and makes a contented sigh. Awwww....

25 February 2014

We were just about ready to have dinner, and Alyson just knew. She went to her chair, stood there grabbing at it trying to get up into it, doing her normal "Eh! Eh!", and looking at us wondering why we weren't putting her in it yet. I think the girl was hungry.

24 February 2014

When Tony came in the front door after getting home from work:

Madelyn: Hi, Daddy.
Alyson: Dada. (then suddenly really loud and excited) DADA!!!!!

She then kept going "Dada dada dada...." and trying to follow him around. She even waited outside the bathroom door for him and kept repeating "Dada" as she banged on the door.

23 February 2014

I was laying on the floor and Alyson would come over and "attack" me. Her attacking included kisses and laying her head down on my chest or stomach to cuddle for a minute. <3

22 February 2014

Today was apparently lounge at the dinner table day. Multiple times, she leaned to the side and stuck her foot up on the table. Multiple times, I took her foot off of the table. Then, she would just look at me like "Hey! I was comfy!" It was so hard not to laugh at her! We have definitely gone full force into the crazy toddler stage.

21 February 2014

G.G. was in her room with the door closed. Alyson crawled down the hallway to the door, pointed under the door, and made her generic "I want that" or "What is that" sound: "Eh eh eh." Guess she wanted to know what G.G. was doing.

20 February 2014

When she feels like cooperating, ask Alyson where her nose is. To answer, she'll try to rip her nose off of her face.

19 February 2014

We definitely have a troublemaker who is in the stage of wanting to explore and get into everything.

First, I had to go get her from the stairs before I had a chance to put the gate up when we got home. As she was crawling toward the stairs, she kept looking at me like "well, are you going to stop me?"

Then, while I was fixing dinner, she was cruising around to all of the cabinets, very purposely pulling on the handles to see if she could open them. When one didn't open, she simply moved on until she got to one that did. Oh, and she tried to put her foot on the handle of the warming draw of the oven and climb up. She is going to be a handful!

18 February 2014

I guess Alyson missed her grandma. She gave her a big, unprompted, surprise kiss this morning before getting her diaper changed. She actually gave lots of kisses today. <3

17 February 2014

Tony and I finished fixing dinner, and we put Alyson in her seat. As soon as she saw her plate, she started clapping and smiling and bouncing around excitedly. Then, she got sad when I didn't give it to her right away.

16 February 2014

Our little comedian likes to be the center of attention during meals. At dinner, she would take a handful of spaghetti and stuff it in her mouth, definitely not daintily eating. Sound effects included:

"Awaaammmmaaaammamaa!"

as she shoved the food and her hand in her mouth.

15 February 2014

As we were finishing up dinner, Alyson was playing with her milk cup. She would hug it, put it up to her nose, and hand it off to Evan and me since we were sitting next to her. Then, she would immediately take it back.

Becca and Evan commented that she was supposed to drink the milk to make her stronger, but that sniffing it seemed to make her stronger anyway.
Alyson handed it to Evan and he put it on the table.
Suddenly, she made a serious "I am strong!" face and lunged for the cup on the table as she yelled "Aya doh doh!"

14 February 2014

First

Alyson was munching on her pancake at dinner while Tony was telling the girls "Happy Valentine's Day."

Tony: Alyson, Happy Valentine's Day.
Alyson looks up and gives him the biggest smile.

Second

Alyson finished her dinner and pushed her plate away.

Me: Alyson, are you all done?
Alyson looks at me and shakes her hands from side to side to sign to me "all done".

(First time she did that.)

13 February 2014

Alyson was in bed with us early(ish) this morning. She was squirmy and trying to stand and crawl around all over the bed and get to everything on nightstands and remotely within reach (mouths, noses, hair, etc.). Plus, she would whine if we didn't let her do what she wanted.

Me: You are being nutty!
Alyson's whining definitely sounded like: Uh huh!

12 February 2014

I had to take the girls into work to drop something off. When we were in my office area, I put Alyson down because she was getting quite heavy. The shy girl just stood there, hugging my legs, and hiding her face from everyone between my legs. It was very much like "If I can't see you, you can't see me!"

11 February 2014

When Alyson decides that she doesn't want to show off that she can walk, she just dives forward instead. Better be there to catch her....

10 February 2014

In the bath, Alyson kept giving her daddy a squirty puffer fish and wanted it right back. He would bop it off of her head, she would get it, and then she would play with it a bit before repeating this. One time she didn't notice where it went to because it went behind her, so she kept touching the top of her head wondering why it wasn't up there and looking at her daddy like "But where did it go?"

09 February 2014

Alyson took her first unassisted steps today. Her expressions were priceless.

When she would get ready to try taking some steps, she would twist her body side to side like she was gaining momentum, and her face would say: "I can do it!!!"

When she would fall, she would call out "Eh!", and her face would say: "Argh!"

08 February 2014

First

I was holding Alyson on the couch. She decided it was time to get down.

She dove to my right.
She turned toward the edge of the couch.
She dove headfirst off the couch (I was holding her leg).
I lowered her to the floor.
She stood up.
She giggled.

Second

As Tony was leaving her bedroom at bedtime, she distinctly said,

"Dada, buh buh."

07 February 2014

First

Following her first taste of a 3 Musketeers. Where has this been all my life?!

Second

When she was done eating dinner, Alyson suddenly got a little fussy.

Me: Alyson, do you want to get down?
Alyson looks down at the floor.
Me, realizing that I had just given Madelyn a Go Go SqueeZ: Alyson, do you want a pouch?

Alyson whips around and reaches for the counter where they are kept: Eh! Eeeehhhh! EEEEEEEHHHHHHH!!!!!!

06 February 2014

Grandma and I were talking about Alyson walking around holding onto the walls and everything.

Me to Alyson: If you just let go I'm sure you could walk.
Grandma: And then she'll wonder why she didn't do it sooner.
Alyson busts out in giggles like "Haha, that's what you think! I'm not going to let go!"

03 February 2014

During dinner, Alyson was trying to stab her pasta with her fork. With every attempt, Alyson would let out a little:

"Ehhhrrrrr" aka a grunt

01 February 2014

As we were leaving the house for dinner:

Alyson waves bye-bye toward the house.
Tony: Are you waving bye-bye to the house?
Alyson smiles a huge smile like "yup, that's what I was doing!"
