30 April 2015

Tony picked up the girls today. As he was leaving with Alyson to go pick Madelyn up from school, they saw a bird outside eating a worm.

Tony: The bird is eating a worm.
Alyson: So funny! So silly!
Tony: Birds like worms. They're tasty.
Alyson: Me like worms, too!

29 April 2015

For whatever reason in the little two-year-old's mind, taking a bath tonight was torture. She usually loves the bath and asks to take a bath, but tonight she cried and screamed from the moment she was getting into the bath. We washer her up and got her right out. While Tony was getting her in her pajamas after her "bath":

Alyson: Take a bath?
Tony: You already took a bath.
Alyson: Why?
Tony: Remember when you were screaming in the bath? Or did you block it from your memory already?
Alyson: Oh.

28 April 2015

While we were outside today, I was pulling off the dead stems from the jonquils. Alyson wanted to be right with me.

Alyson: Me help?
Me: Sure. Do you see what I'm pulling off?
Alyson, reaching out and pulling off a handful of leaves instead of just the stems: Yeah....

27 April 2015

The girls were starting to play with their LEGOs before Tony got home from work. The second he walked in the door, Alyson cheerfully said to him, "Hi, Daddy! Help me build my LEGOs?"

26 April 2015

Alyson was using her napkin to "wash" the table after dinner after wiping her hands/mouth off. Apparently, she thought we were appreciative of it because she kept saying, "You're welcome. You're welcome."

25 April 2015

While in the car, we were listening to Disney music.

Alyson, suddenly from the back seat: Daddy, Mortals?
Tony: No, I'm not going to play "Immortals" right now.
Alyson, disappointed: Why?
Tony: Because it isn't on this playlist.
Alyson, singing to herself instead: Oooh ooh oooh. Mortals. Ooooh oooh oooh. Mor-or-or-ortals.

24 April 2015

On the way home from visiting G.G. in the hospital this evening, Alyson was very concerned about G.G. staying there and not going home.

Alyson: G.G. better?
Me/Tony: No, she isn't better yet. It's going to take a while for her to get better.
Alyson, very thoughtfully: Me wait G.G. better.

23 April 2015

We went to Silver Diner for dinner tonight. As we were at the table, Alyson was looking at the tri-folded ad-thing on the table. She pointed to a photo of Executive Chef Ype, and excitedly told us, "Me want that shirt!" Early aspirations of being a chef?

22 April 2015

After dinner, Madelyn got a piece of candy from her Easter basket.

Me: I'm going to put the Easter baskets away tonight.
Madelyn, panicked: Why?!
Me: I'm tired of having the baskets up there. I'll put the candy in baggies.
Tony, teasing: And we'll eat all of your candy for you.
Madelyn: No way!
Alyson, suddenly joining the conversation: Yes way!

21 April 2015

For most of the evening, Alyson was fussy and clingy. She kept sticking her fingers in her mouth, so I figured her molars coming in were bothering her.

Me: Are your teeth hurting you?
Alyson: No.
Me: Then what's wrong? Why have you been so fussy?
Alyson: Want to.

Well, okay then. That sums up toddlerhood for you.

20 April 2015

During dinner, Alyson took a bite of her baked beans and declared, "No like it!" She then proceeded to eat over half of it.

19 April 2015

This afternoon, Alyson was eating a Dum-Dum lollipop she got for the last swimming class today. Madelyn seemed more interested in finding out the flavor (it was a yellowish colored "Mystery flavored" one) that Alyson was.

Madelyn: What does it taste like?
Alyson: Yellow.

18 April 2015

I took Alyson with me today to pick up Madelyn from ballet, which is a very rare occurrence. The entire time were walking the block to class, Alyson kept pointing ahead and yelling, "I see Madelyn!" She may have seen the building, but she did not see Madelyn. Then, when we went into the building, Alyson yelled to Madelyn, "Hi, Madelyn!" Luckily, she quieted down quickly and stayed quiet until class was over.

17 April 2015

While getting ready for bed tonight, Tony flipped Alyson upside down and lifted her up so that she was "walking" on the ceiling. Alyson enjoyed it. This led to an "argument" between them.

Tony: Silly Alyson!
Alyson: Silly Daddy!
Tony: Silly Alyson!
Alyson: Silly Daddy!
Tony: Silly Alyson!
Alyson: Silly Daddy!
Tony: Silly Alyson!
Alyson: Silly Daddy!

And on and on and on.....

16 April 2015

When Tony got home, Alyson was sitting the kitchen floor watching something on the PBS Kids app on the iPhone.

Tony: Whatcha watching there, Baby Boo?
Alyson, turning the iPhone around so that the screen sort of faced Tony: That!

15 April 2015

As Tony was trying to get Alyson's pajamas that she wore the last couple nights on her for bedtime:

Alyson: No! Not those jammas! Other jammas!
Tony: Okay then. Which pajamas do you want to wear?
Alyson: Owl jammas!

She was not happy until she switched to her owl pajamas.

14 April 2015

After getting down from the table after dinner, Alyson crawled under the table to get her slippers. When she got up, she bumped into Tony who was standing there. She looked up at him and said sweetly, "Waw-ry, Daddy!"

Monday, April 13, 2015

13 April 2015

As we were going upstairs for bed, I looked back down and asked Tony if he had taken the bag of dirty diapers upstairs since they weren't where I had left them.

Tony: No, I haven't been upstairs. Maybe the girls took them upstairs when they got Aly's slippers.
Madelyn: Yeah, I took them up.
Alyson: Madelyn took my diapers bag up. Put them in my room. Because she wanted to.

12 April 2015

After brushing her teeth before bed, Alyson pointed to her ibuprofen dosing cup on the bathroom sink and demanded, "Me medicine! My teesh hurt!" Teething and sick make for a demanding toddler.

Saturday, April 11, 2015

11 April 2015

With our tacos/quesadillas for dinner tonight, I got out some peach salsa for the girls to try. Alyson dipped her finger in the salsa on her plate, held it up, and yelled, "Me like it!" before she even put it in her mouth. Unsurprisingly, she actually did like it (and Madelyn did not).

10 April 2015

Alyson slept in a nightgown today for the first time. She was very excited. Every time she saw someone, she excitedly lifted up her nightgown and informed them, "Look! No pants!"

09 April 2015

First

While watching the airplanes taking off and landing at the airport, Alyson got very mad that there was a few minutes between each plane. Every time one went buy, she demanded, "More airplane!"

Second

While in the car driving home from the airport, Alyson was being silly and kept saying to Madelyn, "Colalalalalooooo! Time wake up!"

08 April 2015

We went to visit Tony so that the girls could see what he was doing for work. A robot was coming down the hallway and looking at them. Another really small robot was running over their feet. Alyson yelled, "Silly robot!"

07 April 2015

First

Before we decided what we were doing for the day, we were exploring what the hotel had (pool, gym, etc). We looked over the edge of a patio to see what was on that side of the hotel, and Alyson asked, "Beach hiding?" The girl wanted to go to the beach.

Second

When Alyson was starting to stir and wake up from her nap, she sat up in bed, looked around and said, "What? What? Madelyn?" When she saw Madelyn in the other bed, she laid back down and went back to sleep for a little bit longer.

Third

While we were playing at the park, Alyson yelled to me from the top of a slide (I was standing right next to the slide.), "Mommy?! Watch me! Ready, set, wheeeeeee!" and she went down the slide.

06 April 2015

First

As were were approaching the airport to land in San Diego, Alyson looked out the airplane window and yelled, "I see San Day-eggo!"

Second

While playing with the giant chess set, Madelyn went around and toppled all of the pieces over. Alyson yelled, "All fell down!" and started going around picking them back up.

05 April 2015

While playing with their LEGOs this morning, Alyson kept taking the hair off her minifigure.

Madelyn: Why in the world are you taking the hair off?
Alyson, very matter-of-factly: Me want to.

04 April 2015

After packing up Alyson's backpack for her carry-on for the plane, we wanted to make sure she could carry it okay. I put it on her pack, and what did she do? Excitedly ran around the house for five minutes with her backpack on while laughing and chasing Madelyn.

03 April 2015

This morning, Alyson was trying to open her vitamin bottle, but couldn't get past the child resistant cap. She handed the bottle to me suddenly and asked, "Mommy turn around that?" (The funny thing is that she had fiddled around with it so much that I almost couldn't get it open myself.)

02 April 2015

While getting ready for bed, Tony always sings "Rock A-bye Baby" to Alyson twice before we switch kids. If I'm not in there when they are done, he hums to her. Tonight after he sang to her, Alyson tapped Tony's shoulder and said, "Daddy, hmmm hmmm hmmm."

Wednesday, April 1, 2015

01 April 2015

Before we left the house this morning, Alyson went to the playroom to pick out a toy to take to Grandma and Grandpa's. When it was time to go, I called back to her.

Me: Okay, come on!
Alyson: In a second!
