31 March 2014

Alyson pulled out one of the cookie sheets to play with while in the kitchen. I was busy getting some splinters out of Madelyn's hand. After a couple of minutes, I looked over to see Alyson just sitting on the cookie sheet like she was either sledding or ready to go into the oven. Unfortunately, I was not able to get a picture.

30 March 2014

We ended up ordering pizza for dinner. Alyson was done eating her pizza and playing with it when I noticed what she was doing with some pepperoni.

Me: Alyson! Pepperoni doesn't go in your ear!

She smiled at me as I took her hand down from her ear.

29 March 2014

Alyson was downstairs with Tony. She slipped on a blue stuffed dog and landed in the splits. She got up and brought the dog to Tony.

Tony: Take it to the toy box.

Alyson looked at him like he was crazy and put in on his leg. Tony handed the dog back to her and she took it and walked off.

Tony: Alyson, take the dog to the toy box.

She looked at him, laughed, and dropped the dog in the dining room as she went to the gate at the stairs because she heard Madelyn and I coming down.

28 March 2014

Poor little Alyson also has the yucky cold. This morning after I finished nursing her she sounded stuffy.

Me: Alyson, are you a stuffy baby?

She scrunched up her nose and tried to blow out of it as she shook her head back and forth just to prove it to me, all while smiling and being silly. Oh, and she can almost blow her nose when you hold a tissue up to it. Yes!

27 March 2014

After Alyson had finished her dinner:

Me: Alyson, do you want a snack? Do you want a little dessert?

Alyson whipped around as fast as she could in her seat to look at the counter with the snacks and "desserts".

26 March 2014

Alyson was playing with my back massager thing in the kitchen while I was cooking dinner. (Sound like the beginning of today's Madelynism?) Somehow while playing with, it got turned on. Alyson then took the opportunity to put it on every surface in the kitchen to hear the different sounds it would make. Don't even think about turning it off if she put it down anywhere and left it. You were then ruining her music and she would yell at her for turning it off.

25 March 2014

Before I got to their Grandma's to pick them up today:

G.G.: Madelyn get your shoes on.
Grandma: She has 10 minutes and she'll be putting her boots on anyway.

Alyson walked over to where the boots were and crawled under the chair to get them.

Grandma: No, Alyson, leave them there.

Alyson sat, put her head down to her chest, and pouted for a couple minutes. She then crawled to her grandpa to get hugs from him and looked at her Grandma with a glare like "I'm mad at you."

24 March 2014

Alyson took a pair of sunglasses from the living room and put them hanging from her neck like a necklace. Madelyn started laughing hysterically at her and came in the kitchen to tell me. Alyson followed Madelyn into the kitchen proud of herself and grinning.

23 March 2014

I was sitting on the couch looking at some stuff on my laptop this morning while the girls were playing. Alyson came over next to me, looked up at me, and insisted on getting my attention while trying to hand me a doll brush:

"Mama! Mama! Mama!"

22 March 2014

Our little fearless daredevil decided that sitting down for slides was for sissies. If Tony hadn't had been there helping her, she would have walked down the slide. As it were, she pretty much tumbled head-first into his arms. Then, she burst out into tears when Tony had the audacity to make her sit down to go down the slide.

21 March 2014

While waiting for me to come in to feed her before bed, Tony and Alyson were practicing blowing kisses and catching them in the mirror in her bedroom. Sound effects were necessary when catching kisses. She would put her hand up to "grab" them, smile, and say:

"Hhhissssssssss"

20 March 2014

Madelyn was watching Doc McStuffins in the living room while Alyson was in the kitchen with me as I fixed dinner. Whatever came on after the show was over had the Doc McStuffins theme song. Alyson stopped, listened for half a second, and then tried to run into the living room. She can't run yet, so her upper body was propelling her forward as she tried to make her legs move as fast as possible. I swore she was going to face plant.

19 March 2014

Dinner tonight called for some cream in the sauce. I had been talking to Madelyn a while back about making butter by shaking a container with cream, so I poured some of the extra cream into a container and gave it to her. She started shaking it.

Alyson is always interested in what big sister is doing. She went up to her and tried to take the container. Madelyn let her have a turn and kept telling her to shake it. Alyson sat there shaking, shaking, shaking, but would she give it back to her sister? Of course not.

18 March 2014

Alyson started pulling at her pants/diaper. I asked her if she wanted to go upstairs to get a new diaper. She walked over to the gate blocking her from the stairs and started pulling on it. I took the gate down and she began her crawl up the stairs and to her room.

17 March 2014

While Madelyn was playing with her green slime today, her slipper fell off. When she went to wash her hands, the slipper stayed at her seat at the table, and she was going to come back for it. Alyson saw the slipper, pointed to it, yelled "Aaahhhh!", picked it up, and followed her sister back to the bathroom to give it to her.

16 March 2014

I was at Mom's picking Alyson up after a baby shower I had gone to. While Mom and I were talking and I was showing her a photo of a friend's baby standing on a riding toy, we look up just in time to see Alyson falling off of her riding toy that she had been trying to stand on. (No worries, she was fine and didn't even cry.)

15 March 2014

We went out for dinner tonight. After eating we were outside by the ice skating rink for a few minutes. I lifted Alyson up on one of the big rocks so she could sit there. Madelyn decided that she also wanted to get on the rock so she climbed up. Alyson told her sister that it was her rock and that she didn't want her up there by yelling and trying to push her off.

14 March 2014

When we were getting ready to leave from bowling with my coworkers, Alyson started playing with her jacket. First, she would hide under it and then pull it off of her head and say "Baaaahhhh!" When she got tired of that and really wanted to go, she was trying to put her jacket on to let us know that she was done.

13 March 2014

Simply put, Alyson was trying to comb Madelyn's hair with a fork today.

Wednesday, March 12, 2014

12 March 2014

One of Alyson's newly found loves is climbing the stairs. As soon as the gate is down and it's time to go up for bed, she crawls as fast as she can to the stairs (walking isn't fast enough) and starts to climb. She loves it since it's the only time we let her climb the stairs (obviously with someone right behind her), and this little girl is getting fast.

11 March 2014

Mom was trying to get Alyson to give her a kiss by holding her up and making kissy noises. Alyson kept looking everywhere possible except at her grandma. Suddenly, she quickly gives her a little kiss and immediately looks away with a little grin. That little tease. ;-)

Monday, March 10, 2014

10 March 2014

I buckled Alyson into her car seat while Madelyn climbed up into hers. When I was done with Alyson, I went around to Madelyn's side of the car to finish buckling her in. I opened the door and Alyson started blowing me kisses from her car seat.

09 March 2014

Today was our first day of no morning nap. She was doing really well until a mini-meltdown while I was fixing her lunch that resulted in her laying on her belly in the middle of the kitchen floor sucking her thumb.

08 March 2014

Me: Alyson, where's your mouth?
Alyson giggles like she's up to something. A few seconds later, she sticks her tongue out and moves it from side to side while making a "na na na na na na" sound.

07 March 2014

First

Me: Alyson, how big are you?
Alyson ignores me.
Me: Alyson, how big are you?
Alyson continues to ignore me.
Me: Okay then, I'm going to get your belly.
I lean down and start pretending to try to eat her belly.
Alyson shoots her arms into the air while yelling "Aaaahhhh!"

Second

Me: Alyson, where's your belly?
Alyson pulls her shirt up and giggles.

06 March 2014

After Tony got home, he was holding Alyson while I was fixing dinner. Alyson and I started blowing each other kisses. She would blow me a kiss. I would blow one back. She would "catch" it and smack herself in the face and giggle. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

05 March 2014

I gave Alyson a little piece of a granola bar and she loved it. She wanted more, so I broke up a few small pieces and held them out to her in my hand. She tried to grab every last piece from my hand and stuff them into her mouth as fast as possible and all in one handful. Must have all the food!!

04 March 2014

Madelyn and Alyson were playing in the living room when dinner was ready. Madelyn came in quickly to the table and sat down. Alyson looked into the living room with an expression that asked "What's going on?" She saw her plate on the table. "Oooh! Dinner!!!" As she walked slowly and purposefully to her seat, the determined look on her face said it all, "I. Will. Walk. To. The. Table. So there!"

03 March 2014

First

During lunch, I asked Madelyn if she wanted any mushrooms. She got really excited about it. I also gave Alyson some and she ate them.

Tony to Madelyn: You are definitely my daughter in some ways, but this is one of the ways you are not my daughter.
Madelyn: Who's not your daughter?
Alyson points to herself.

(For the record, both of them are definitely Tony's daughters.)

Second

During Alyson's nap, Tony, Madelyn, and I were watching Finding Nemo. Alyson woke up before it was over. I paused the movie and went to get her. When we came back downstairs, I restarted the movie. Alyson was playing but came over to the couch where Madelyn and I were sitting (Tony had gone out to clear off his car.) and insisted on joining us on the couch to finish the movie. I think she felt like a big girl.

02 March 2014

While at the Maryland Women's Basketball game today while announcing Sequoia Austin during the seniors ceremony before the game:

Bill to Madelyn: I don't know much about her but she must be good because everyone seems to like her. I know, I'm a bad Terp.

Alyson points at Bill and laughs.

01 March 2014

Alyson fell while trying to drink from her water bottle and hit her forehead. I picked her up since she was crying and carried her around for a bit. She had stopped crying and seemed pretty content again.

Me: Alyson, do you want to get down?

She quickly hugs me tight with a death grip, pretty much jumping up higher in my arms, as if saying "NOOOO!!!!"
