30 April 2014

When we were leaving Mom's, I put Alyson's jacket on her and she knew we were leaving. She went up to her grandma and hugged her legs. Then, she went up to her GG and hugged her legs. Then, she went to her grandpa to be picked up and carried out to the car.

29 April 2014

The kitchen trash can was in the way of where she wanted to lay down, so she pushed it almost into the hallway.

28 April 2014

Before dinner, Alyson was running around with her arms back behind her like she was trying to take off.

Tony: Alyson, are you trying to fly?

Alyson looked at him and kept going, like "Of course!".

27 April 2014

Alyson brought out a travel art kit from the playroom to her daddy in the living room.

Alyson held the art kit up with two hands as if saying "Please, Daddy, can you open this?"

Tony: You aren't going to get anything from that.

Alyson let it drop to her side while holding it in one hand and looked up at Tony dejectedly with a look reminiscent of a moping teenager that screamed "Ugh! Really, Daddy?! Why must you be so unreasonable?"

Tony: Take it back to sister.

Alyson turned and trudged away to give it to Madelyn.

26 April 2014

Alyson is either suffering from another cold or allergies. She seems fine other than sneezing and having a runny nose. After she sneezed once today:

Tony: Alyson, do you need to blow your nose?
She looked at him like "uh huh".
Tony: Bring me the Boogie Wipes.
She turned to where they were right next to her, picked up the canister, and brought it over to her daddy. Then, she very patiently blew her nose. (Yes, our 15-month-old will blow her nose if you hold the tissue up to her nose for her. Crazy!)

25 April 2014

I tried doing some push-ups quickly after we got home before Alyson noticed. I only got 5 done before she came over, pushed me down, tackled me, and laid down on my back. Then, she got up, turned around, and sat on me. No more push-ups.

24 April 2014

After her morning nap, Alyson was playing music from the music and lights toy she has in her crib. The toy was playing lullabies/classical music, which she proceeded to head-bang to as she danced with the music.

23 April 2014

At Grandma's house, Madelyn turned on a table lamp. Alyson looked at it like "what in the world is that?"

Grandma: That's a light, Alyson. Can you say light?
Alyson shook her head "no" quite emphatically.

22 April 2014

This is what happens when Mommy does 10 push-ups. Poor Alyson kept bopping her face on the ground.

20 April 2014

Alyson was babbling and being a bit loud during Easter Mass this morning.

Me, whispering: Alyson, shhhhh....
Alyson: Ssssshhhhh!!!!

19 April 2014

Alyson was starting to act tired and it was about time for bed.

Me: Alyson, are you ready to go up for bed?

Alyson shook her head violently. She took a few steps toward the toy box and then sat down. She then laid down on the floor. Once she got up, she walked through the dining room toward the gate blocking the stairs and started shaking it because, yes, she was tired and ready to go to bed.

18 April 2014

Alyson took one of the flat magnets from the kitchen back to the playroom. She picked up a book and sat down on the beanbag chair. Tony then looked over to see her open the book, pull out the magnet like a bookmark, and start "reading" it upside-down.

17 April 2014

Alyson was not too happy about her check-up today. She cried about having her length measured. She cried about having her head measured. She cried about being weighed. She cried about having blood drawn. She cried about the doctor examining her. And, of course, she cried about getting shots.

After the shots, I was holding her and she was calming down. She turned completely around to look at the nurse as she was leaving at the room. I couldn't see her face.

Me to the nurse: I can't see her face, but I bet she's glaring at you.
Nurse: Yup, pretty much.

16 April 2014

The girls were playing with a box when I got to Mom's to pick them up. I put Alyson in the box. She closed the flaps a bit so that she was "hiding." Slowly, she peaked out and said:

"Boh!"

15 April 2014

Alyson and I were on the way upstairs to get ready for bed. Madelyn was refusing to stop playing and come upstairs with us. Alyson pointed to her as if she was trying to tell her to come upstairs or was wondering why she wasn't coming and yelled:

"Ah-ah-in!"

Not a bad attempt to say "Madelyn".

14 April 2014

After dinner, Madelyn and I were experimenting with one of the projects we're doing at my company for Take Your Child to Work Day. It's a lava lamp using colored water, oil, and Alka-Seltzer type tablets. We already had the water bottle ready with the colored water and oil. We just had to add the tablets. Alyson was still sitting in her seat watching.

Me: Okay, we need to take the lid off and leave it off. Otherwise, the gases released will build up and make it go boom.

Madelyn added in the piece of Alka-Seltzer and it started to bubble.

Madelyn, while covering her ears: When is it going to go kaboom?
Alyson: Gaboo!!

13 April 2014

This morning, I laid in bed with Alyson while she nursed. When she was done:

Me: You're all done? You want to go find sister?
Alyson immediately tried to get off the bed.
Me: Wait, let me take off your sleep sack.
Alyson sat down so that I could get to the zipper.
Me, once the sleep sack was off: Okay, there you go.
She made her way off the bed with me holding her hands, went straight to the door, opened it, and went straight to Madelyn's room and laughed.

12 April 2014

This morning after the girls woke up, we were all cuddling and playing in our bed. Tony and I were tickling Madelyn and trying to get Alyson to also tickle her.

Me as I tickled Madelyn: Alyson, tickle tickle.
Alyson lunged forward and "tickled" Madelyn: Ill, ill!

11 April 2014

While going for a walk around the block after dinner, I was reminding Madelyn to look before she crosses driveways. She stopped to check for a few, and we would point out to her when she missed one. She went right past a driveway that was partially blocked by a fence.

Tony: Madelyn, you just missed a driveway.
Alyson: Aaaaawwwwwwww!!

10 April 2014

When we got home today, I wanted to give Alyson a quick bath because of another diaper rash (poor baby!). I starting filling up the tub before getting her undressed. As I was starting to fill the tub, Alyson tried to climb in clothes, shoes, and all. Then, she got mad at me for taking her away from the side of the tub to get her undressed.

09 April 2014

After we got home, the girls and I were upstairs while I changed my clothes. After playing for a bit on our bed, I asked them if they wanted to go outside. Alyson immediately tried getting off the bed. Once she was down, she tried climbing over the clothes Tony had in front of the window because she wanted to look out the window. Then, she got really mad when I picked her up to take her downstairs after I explained that we were going to actually go outside, not just look outside.

08 April 2014

I was checking for any new teeth in Alyson's mouth (found another molar). After I was done checking her mouth, she needed to stick her finger in mine to check my teeth.

07 April 2014

After dinner, Madelyn was being crazy and loud. We told her to go have a seat in the dining room to calm down. She went in and sat on the step stool that was in there. Alyson followed her, went right up to her, turned around, and tried to sit with her on the stool.

06 April 2014

One of Alyson's bedtime stories was "Snuggle Puppy" by Sandra Boynton.

Tony: Well, I have a thing to tell you, and it won't take long. The way I feel about you is a kind of a song. It starts with an "Ooo" and ends with a kiss....

Alyson turned to her daddy to give him a kiss.

05 April 2014

Alyson stayed home with Tony while Nana and I took Madelyn to ballet. When we got home, she heard us outside and was looking around like "Where are they? I hear them!" As we opened the door, she practically came running toward us happily yelling "Haaaaaaaa!!!!!"

04 April 2014

While eating dinner at Red Lobster, Alyson was being somewhat uncharacteristically stubborn about dinner and not eating her popcorn shrimp or mac and cheese. The only way we could get her to eat the  shrimp was to dip them in ketchup. Tony had trained her pretty well to hand him a shrimp, he would dip it, and then he would put it in her mouth. Next thing he knew she handed him a piece of macaroni to dip in the ketchup. He laughed, went ahead and dipped it, and she ate it. She gladly ate about half of the mac and cheese we gave her as long as it was accompanied with ketchup.

03 April 2014

Alyson stayed home with Tony today when I took Madelyn to work with me and then to preschool. Alyson was upset that we left without her this morning. I heard her start to cry a little as Madelyn and I left. After I shut the door, she tried to get her coat off of the couch in order to come with us.

02 April 2014

Madelyn came inside from playing and ran back to her room at her grandparents' because she was upset because she had gotten into a little bit of trouble. Mom went back to talk to her and find out what had happened. As they were talking, Alyson walked back and knocked on the door. Madelyn let her in. Alyson went to her with a concerned look on her face and gave her big sister a hug because she knew Madelyn was upset.

Mom: Okay, Alyson, let me finish talking to Madelyn. Go back out to the living room.

Alyson left the room and went back to the living room so that they could talk.

01 April 2014

Madelyn rolled her toy car under the refrigerator. I was laying on the floor with a flashlight and a yardstick trying to get it out. Alyson was curious about what was doing from the point of me getting the yardstick. She was standing next to me watching. Next thing I knew, I felt her sit on the middle of my back. I couldn't help but stop and just laugh. Alyson then took that as her cue to lay on me, bounce on me, and just be silly as I tried to get the car.
