While "playing" hide-and-seek this morning before going downstairs, Alyson was counting while Madelyn hid. In addition to the silliness of them hiding and counting in the same spots the entire time, Alyson's counting went something like, "One, three, nine, ten, eleven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, eating."

While I was fixing dinner, Madelyn and I were in the kitchen. Alyson was in the playroom.
Me, relatively quietly to Madelyn: Do you want buttered noodles or mac and cheese?
Madelyn, louder, but not too loud: Mac and cheese.
Alyson from the playroom: Mac and cheese for me! Mac and cheese for me!

When it was time for Alyson to say goodnight to Madelyn tonight:
Alyson, running out of her room and looking in the bathroom: Run run! In there?
Seeing that Madelyn was no longer in the bathroom: No....
Turning toward Madelyn's room and running in: In there?
Upon seeing Madelyn: Ninight!

We had asparagus tonight with dinner, which we know the girls don't really like (oh well). Madelyn ate all of hers quickly first to get it over with (she's learning!). Alyson wouldn't touch it after spitting the first bite out.
Alyson, pushing her plate toward me but only with asparagus on it: Mama help.
I put some asparagus on her spoon.
Alyson, hiding her face in her arms on the table: Not nice....
(Not sure what she had wanted me to do with her plate, but apparently it was not to put asparagus on her spoon.)

First
The girls have a small, rubber monster finger puppet that Tony found in this childhood bucket of LEGOs. Madelyn named it "Stony" because it's back looks like stone. This morning, Alyson was holding Stony above her head and spinning around to make him fly.
Tony: Are you getting dizzy?
Alyson: Yes dizzy. More dizzy. Stony DIZZY!
Second
Alyson came into the living room from the playroom with a blue coffee cup.Alyson, handing Tony the cup: Daddy, hot coffee.
Tony, taking the cup and "drinking" it: Mmmmm....this is good coffee.
Alyson: Hot! Blow it!
Tony: It was warm but it was good. Thank you.
Alyson: More?
Tony: Sure. I'll take some more.
Alyson walked back to the playroom and then came back with the cup again. She gave it to Tony.
Alyson: Hot coffee!
Tony: Thank you. What type of coffee is it?
Alyson: Apple juice coffee. Starbucks. All gone. Need go shopping Starbucks later.

While I was in the bathroom, I heard Alyson come out of the playroom looking for me:
"Mommy? Mommy?"
She must have come back down the hall from the living room and saw the closed bathroom door.
"In the potty!"

We had pork chops, peas, and baked apples for dinner tonight. Alyson of course ate all of her apples first. When she tried to poke one of the apple pieces with her fork it went sliding across her plate into her peas. She squealed, " Ah! Watch out, apple!"
