30 October 2015

First

I was trying to get Alyson to leave Mom and Dad's a little faster this afternoon, so I reminded her about her new closet that was installed today to get her to want to leave.

Me: What happened in your room today?
Alyson: I don't know.
Me: Did something happen to your closet?
Alyson, jumping around in circles and excitedly moving her arms up and down: I GOT A NEW CLOSET! I GOT A NEW CLOSET! I GOT A NEW CLOSET!

She was ready to leave then.

Second

Alyson was playing with some Styrofoam packing peanuts in a box.

Me: Alyson, stop messing with those. I don't want a big mess.
Alyson: Why?
Me: Because I don't want to have to clean up your mess.
Alyson: But me want to play with them.
Me: Are you going to clean up the mess when you're done?
Alyson: No.
Me: So, you're not playing with them.

Oh, the honesty of toddlers, and a perfect example of her mood lately. She went off and did something else.
